5th World Water Forum, 2009

More than 80 members of the Gender and Water Alliance from across the globe joined up in Istanbul in March 2009, at the 5th World Water Forum, in an effort to mainstream gender equity issues in the discussions and emerging recommendations. GWA aimed to bridge specifically the gender gap in the various agendas, as “ Bridging divides for water” was the slogan of the Water Forum.

This comic book has been jointly developed by the Pacific Energy and Gender Network (PEG) and the WASH programme of the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC). This Advocacy Manual has been developed to assist members of the Gender and Water Alliance who are involved in advocating for greater attention to gender issues within the water sector. The manual is principally aimed at "Gender Ambassadors" whose role is to influence debates in international and national water conferences and similar events, as well as in relation to national water policy development, implementation and monitoring.
