The IRHA was founded during the World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD). Co-operation between IRHA and GWA consists of regular contacts and advisory services from GWA at different levels. Furthermore IRHA contributes its knowledge to GWA in the fields of water rights, small farmers, rainwater harvesting and water in ecosystems in mountain areas.
