In March 2003, the 3rd World Water Forum took place in Kyoto, Shiga and Osaka, Japan. GWA was present at the forum in Kyoto with a stand and a session called "Gender in Court".

5th World Water Forum, 2009

More than 80 members of the Gender and Water Alliance from across the globe joined up in Istanbul in March 2009, at the 5th World Water Forum, in an effort to mainstream gender equity issues in the discussions and emerging recommendations. GWA aimed to bridge specifically the gender gap in the various agendas, as “ Bridging divides for water” was the slogan of the Water Forum.

From 17 to 23 August 2008 the World Water Week took place in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme was "Progress and Prospects on Water: For a Clean and Healthy World". Together with Saferworld, UK, the Gender and Water Alliance conducted a Seminar titled "Conflicts Over Water and Water to Solve Conflicts".
Also the GWA Chair, Dr. Sara Ahmed, was the lead rapporteur for the sessions on Water Resource Mangement and reported her findings at the Synthesis Plenary on Friday 22 August.
