I would like to add my opinion concerning the question:

Why it is important to mainstream gender in agricultural water management?

In my point of view, the tasks performed by women in agriculture in general and in irrigation in particular are not visible, and are not taken into account by the scientists and the researchers in their programmes. Therefore, women do not benefit from the technologies and innovations in the field of irrigation. Eg. few women use drip irrigation and other water saving techniques. Therefore, in addition to the views expressed in the previous messages, gender mainstreaming in the research and development programmes should be of great importance to help empowerment of women dealing with agriculture and irrigation tasks;
