#Women2030

Since May 2016 the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA) is partner coordinator in #Women2030, an alliance of 5 global and regional women and gender networks collaborating to monitor and realize selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a gender equitable and climate-just way. GWA partners with Asia-Pacific Women, Law and Development(APWLD), Global Forest Coalition (GFC), Women Engage for a Common Future(WECF), and Women Environmental Programme (WEP Africa) in a 5 year programme funded by the EU to strengthen Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) participation in sustainable development. The #Women2030 programme has three main components: capacity building, policy advocacy, and outreach.

Capacity Building and Training Manual

The main objective of the capacity building component is to strengthen the knowledge and training skills of civil society organizations to implement selected SDGs in a gender responsive manner. To this end, the Gender and Water Alliance has developed and edited the Training Master Manual.

Policy Consultation and Advocacy

The main objective of this component is to ensure an effective and meaningful policy participation of local women leaders and women’s organisations at national level to influence a gender - responsive implementation of the SDGs (Agenda2030), based on concrete lessons learnt and best local practices. Among others, two activities will facilitate the fulfillment of this objective: gender assessment and shadow report.

GWA-Bangladesh selected from those members who already monitor certain SDGs, five members to keep following a large group of women and girls and men, to monitor the process of SDGs 5, 6 and 13 (Gender equality, Water and sanitation, and Climate Action.

Country Reports Gender Assessments Kenya and Bangladesh

Following the global format GWA developed two country reports, one of Kenya for which IEW did the interviews and FGDs, and one for Bangladesh, for which s group of members did interviews and FGDs in various districts all over the country.
