Faridul has taken a keen interest in gender issues in his academic and professional life. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree on Women and Gender Studies from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and has been working in the development sector for more than five years.

Before joining GWAPB, Faridul was working in the capacity of Technical Coordinator- Women Empowerment and Education, with a food security project of CARE Bangladesh. Leading a Men Engagement pilot project was one of his key tasks there, besides providing technical support on women empowerment to the food security project.

Faridul has been involved with different extra-curricular activities on gender since his student life.  He was the founder editor of a gender -focused half yearly journal, ‘Shabdo’ (voice) published by the students of the Women and Gender Studies department of Dhaka University, which also included some of his own writing. He is also proud of having organized a gender book fair in the Dhaka University campus, during his student life. Faridul considers it an important goal in his life to work towards creating a gender-just society.

Currently he is on study leave and pursuing his second masters on Development Studies at the IDS, University of Sussex, UK as a Chevening Scholar.
